The Studio is the separate annexe to the Lighthouse, sharing part of its very large garden and driveway, and overlooking the orchards. It provides simple yet comfortable self-catering accommodation for two people (or more) with an extra put-you-up bed available in the large double-bedded (king size) loft room upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. The kitchen/living room is provided with an electric 'Everhot' cooker (a bit like an aga), fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster and iron. Wifi is available. There are electric radiators for heating. There is radio but no TV. The shower room leads off from the lobby. Garden furniture, barbeque and washing machine are all in the adjoining garage and can be used by arrangement with us. Bring your own bikes and store them there! There is parking for up to two cars.
The Studio looks out onto the peaceful garden, the Malvern Hills and the orchards (where you can wander) and lies very close to the footpath network. We have maps and guides to borrow, and folders with details of pubs and attractions. It has its own good stretch of lawn for relaxing and small ‘wildlife’ garden at the back, where you may see birds, dragonflies, deer and even the odd grass-snake warming itself up in the small pond! There is plenty of wildlife to observe, even from the window! The Studio is ideal for a peaceful short break, or a whole relaxing week.
Prices range from £240 for two nights (minimum) for two, and £600 for a week, to a little more for more people. Additional rooms are available in the Lighthouse for extra guests, prices on request.
The Lighthouse is a new 'Green-oak' house, built in 2006-7, to a design commissioned from architect Wilf Burton, the frame being designed, engineered and constructed by Rupert Newman and his West-country firm 'Westwinds Oak'. The result is a wonderful, light-filled space which has already hosted many groups, families and reunions to its welcoming shelter over the past few years. I live here permenantly together with my cat, Bostin.
Bed and Breakfast has been offered in the past in The Lighthouse but is currently unavailable. The two ground-floor bed-rooms can be used as extra accommodation for guests in the Studio (having their own entrance).
‘'Green'’, a peaceful room overlooking the orchards, or
''Patchwork’', a quiet, comfortable room with 5 foot bed.
Both these ground-floor rooms have ensuite shower rooms. Our aim is to offer flexible accommodation so either or both of these rooms can be used to sleep doubles or singles and are only available in conjunction with the self-catering Studio nextdoor. Prices by arrangement.
